"A horse thinks, feels, makes decisions. Treat him like a friend, not a slave. People have to learn that whatever the horse does is right. You're the one who got into his life; he didn't get into yours." - Ray Hunt

It's our belief that the horse is perfect by nature, and it's our responsibility as horse*men and women to preserve that perfection. We strive to achieve a trusting and respectful horse/human relationship through clear communication that both can easily understand. The horse learns to trust his/her handler as the leader of their herd; thus looking to the handler for direction and everyday needs... While the handler learns how to communicate with and regard his/her equine partner as a wise teacher.

We want you and your horse to become willing partners in any discipline that you could ever dream of doing with him/her. We strive to lay a foundation in your horses' education to teach him/her to become versatile and adaptable enough to go any direction. Your horse will be able to to go from the show ring, to the trails and back to the rodeo arena without any hiccups.

Horses in our program will be introduced to ground work and will be put through numerous preparation and awareness challenges. We use down to earth, simple techniques that we make unique to every horse in every situation. Basically through pressure and release, we make the right thing easy and the wrong thing more difficult always allowing the horse to choose with path he takes and never nagging him. It doesn't matter if you own a show horse or a trail horse, we are geared towards training versatile, sound minded, trusting horses.

*It does not matter if your horse is a weanling, a 2 year old ready to be started under saddle, or a 10 year old who's been riding for years we always begin with ground work. Basically, we always start our horses with The First Steps.*

We are also more than willing to travel to you and your horse so that you don't have to worry about expensive hauling and boarding fees.

What makes us different?

-We're different because we listen! We  believe that humans were given two  ears, two eyes and only one mouth for  a reason! Therefore, we listen to and  observe the horse as well as the handler in  order to help them to the best of our  abilities. We feel that we, no matter  how much horse experience someone  has, are constant students of the  horse; always learning and growing from  the lessons that the horse teaches us.

-We are passionate about horses, it's  more of an obsession rather than a  business for us. We continue working and  riding with other trainers and horse  people, there's not any one person who  "knows it all" about horses, and what  better way is there to learn and grow than  by spending time with others who share  our passion?! Here we believe that we are  lifelong students of the horse!

-We keep in mind that no one is perfect,  and we also know that every horse, every  situation and every owner is different! We  adjust our methods to accommodate  the horse and owner.

It does not matter what we can do with your horse, what does matter is what we can help YOU do with your horse!

Generally a horse will learn the following in training at Diamond LP
(unless halter breaking & general gentling need to be taught, or if the horse has suffered a trauma that needs to be overcome, in order to handle the horse first)...
